A New Beginning. . .
It has been a long time coming.... but finally we have made progress!! I want to thank our recording secretary Ellen Brumfield and our brother from sister local 1155 John Carter for their diligence in making the idea of a website a reality.
The New Year offers us the opportunity to start fresh....to repair strained relationships.....to build solidarity and to fight for the causes important to working families.
United Steelworker President, Leo Gerard, and USW District 9 Director,
Daniel Flippo, are asking every USW District 9 Local Union to
participate in the January 13, 2010 National Call in Day for Health Care
Reform.
The AFL- CIO has set up a toll free number to make calls to your U.S.
Congressperson and U.S. Senators. The Toll Free number is
1-877-323-5246.
Tell your Congressperson and Senators:
Do Not Tax Our Health Care Benefits
Require Employers to Pay Their Fair Share
Include a Public Health Care Option
I hope that each of us will take a moment to make these calls. We have seen our medical cost continue to escalate. We do not need our policymakers to enact new laws that increase those cost.
I look forward to our work together...the struggle continues.
In service and solidarity,
Vonda McDaniel
