We Are One
Join Together to Support Workers’ Rights

It’s no secret that times are tough. Wall Street wrecks our economy, uses us for bailouts, and then leaves us to clean up the mess. Corporations and the financial institutions that fuel them are concentrating power like never before, while average Americans struggle to make basic ends meet. And now, CEO-sponsored politicians are unleashing swift and unrelenting attacks on the basic rights of workers to bargain for a better future. Worker attacks come to your state. These politicians are engaging in the ultimate payback for their CEO contributors: eliminating public employees’ ability to bargain, expanding so-called right to work – or more accurately, “freeload” – laws, blocking our ability to advocate for our legislative interests, turning key public services over to for-profit companies and more. And, while many of these same politicians are claiming these legislative goals are necessary for “budget balancing,” they are blowing budgets – and their argument – by giving massive tax
breaks to corporations and the wealthiest!

Unions matter & we’re fighting back. As Steelworkers, we work for collectively-bargained contracts and public policies that create good and safe jobs. These jobs provide the foundation for strong families and strong communities. The gains we make aren’t limited to our members; they extend to – and benefit – all Americans. We’re the best check on corporate power that America has, and we must block the attacks on our rights at every turn.

Let’s stand with allies and fight for a better future. It was on April 4, 1968, that Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated while on a trip to Memphis, TN to stand with sanitation workers as they sought the right to bargain collectively. We are standing together as one with community groups, religious organizations and others to honor Dr. King’s work while fighting for workers’ rights and against those who seek to undercut and eliminate those rights. Events are happening nationally. Join
